Welcome to the MISTER Center!
MISTER: Men's Information Services: Testing*Empowerment*Resources
is a drop-in center for men located in Midtown Atlanta, and is one of several programs offered at Positive Impact. While the majority of services are focused on the needs of gay and bisexual men due to the nature of funding that supports MISTER and the mission of the MISTER program, women and straight men may also access many of the services offered at MISTER, including access to no-cost HIV testing, fee-for-service STI screening, information on local resources, and workshop participation.
A variety of FREE programs and services are offered. Check out the links on this page for more information about HIV testing, STI screening, CLEAR counseling and other MISTER programs.
The MISTER Center is one of the most popular spots for getting a no-cost rapid HIV test in metro Atlanta! Have you had your test lately? If you are sexually active the CDC recommends testing every 6 to 12 months; and if you are a gay or bisexual man sexually active with more than one sex partner testing every 3 months is recommended.
Take control of your life -- take the test!

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need an appointment for an HIV test?
A: No, you do not need to schedule an appointment for an HIV test at MISTER. Appointments are only needed for the one-on-one CLEAR counseling sessions and for treatment of a sexually transmitted infection.
Q: How much does HIV testing cost?
A: There is no cost to you associated with receiving an HIV test.
Q: Can I get screened for syphilis, gonorrhea and Chlamydia?
A: Screenings are currently available for a nominal fee. In some cases, if you meet the eligibility requirements, you can receive screening for a reduced cost or no cost depending on your circumstances.
Q: Are young children permitted in the MISTER Center?
A: No. Because of the sensitive nature of services, the MISTER Center is an adult-only space. Individuals arriving with young children will be asked to return at another time when they have made other childcare arrangements. The Center does not have childcare facilities. Older children over age 13 are permitted; however, parents should be aware that there are sexually explicit materials available in the Center, and children are not permitted to go into the counseling rooms with parents during the testing process and must have another responsible adult with the child at all times while in the waiting area. Children cannot be left unattended in the waiting area.
Q: Can women and straight men access any services at MISTER?
A: YES! While the majority of clients tested at the MISTER Center are gay and bisexual men, anyone over the age of 16, regardless of gender, race or sexual orientation, can get a no-cost HIV test at MISTER and purchase any of our fee-for-service STI screens.
Q: How often can I get an HIV test at MISTER?
A: If you are sexually active, it is recommended you get tested every 3 to 6 months for HIV. In some cases, getting tested once a month may be acceptable, but no one can test more frequently than once every 30 days at MISTER. Your test counselor will inform you of when you need to return, and can even set you up with our free texting and email reminder service.
Q: Do you have more questions?
A: Contact us! Any of our MISTER Center staff will be more than happy to answer your questions.
